THRISSUR: Advocate Joseph Tajet has been appointed as the president of the Thrissur District Congress Committee (DCC). The appointment was approved by AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge, as confirmed in a press release issued by the organization's General Secretary, KC Venugopal.
There were significant internal conflicts within the Congress party following the defeat of K Muraleedharan in the Thrissur Lok Sabha constituency. As a result, Jose Valloor resigned from the president's position. Subsequently, Palakkad MP VK Sreekandan was given the temporary charge.
The temporary charge was given for three months. The names of Joseph Tajet and former MLA Anil Akkara were considered for the president's position. Currently, Joseph Tajet serves as the Leader of the Opposition in the Thrissur District Panchayat.
