THRISSUR: The voter turnout figures collected by political parties on a community basis confirm the criticism in CPM district conference report that the Ezhava votes in the Thrissur Lok Sabha constituency were leaked. The Ezhava community in the constituency accounts for more than a quarter of the total vote, 28 percent. Ezhavas are more prevalent in the Nattika, Manalur and Puthukkad constituencies. BJP made big progress in the Left strongholds of Nattika and Manalur.
BJP candidate Suresh Gopi came ahead in six of the seven assembly constituencies in Thrissur constituency. He was behind only in Guruvayur, where he was in third place. BJP came ahead in Nattika, Manalur and Puthukkad constituencies with a significant increase in votes. Nattika, Manalur and Thrissur constituencies provided the foundation for Suresh Gopi's victory. Although LDF came second in five constituencies, it came third in Thrissur and Irinjalakuda. These figures show that the Left Front did not get the votes added by CPM and that there was a major lapse in checking the voter list. In short, the party's supporters are criticizing that the Ezhava votes leaked in favour of BJP due to the party's minority appeasement.
