NEW DELHI: The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) manoeuvred an effective grassroots-level campaigning which saw BJP storming back to power in Delhi after 27 years. And rightly so, the final decision in selecting the chief minister of Delhi will be made by BJP's parent organisation. More than 50,000 family meetings were organized by RSS in connection with the elections. Efforts were also made to get a maximum number of voters to the booths.
As per insider reports, RSS informed BJP to pick a leader with an untainted public image for the post of Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister. As Prime Minister Narendra Modi left for a four-day visit to France and the US on Monday, the swearing-in ceremony will be delayed.
The BJP leadership feels that there can be more than one Deputy Chief Minister. Caste equations will be considered. Leaders with great organizational skills, experience, maximum age of 55 years are also being considered for the posts. Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma's name is still preferred for the post of Chief Minister. Parvesh is a leader of the Jat sect. There are more than 8 lakh Jat communities in Delhi.
Vijender Gupta, Rekha Gupta and Ajay Mahawar from the Baniya community are also being considered for the post of Chief Minister.
