KOLLAM: Fire breaks out in oil palm estate in Kulathupuzha. The fire broke out in an oil palm plantation covering about five acres near Kandanchira Estate. Three plantation workers who felt unwell after inhaling smoke were admitted to the hospital. Firefighters from Kulathupuzha and Punalur stations have reached the spot and are trying to bring the fire under control.

One part of the fire has been extinguished. Firefighters say the cause of the fire outbreak was a fire in the bush forest due to the hot summer. Thousands of newly planted oil palm trees on the plantation were gutted. This is an uninhabited area.
