KOCHI: Listin Stephen, the office-bearer of the Producers Association called for a truce between Suresh Kumar and Antony Perumbavoor.
“Suresh Kumar is a senior member of the organization. Antony, in a similar way, is a vital presence in the organization.” At the press conference, Listin clarified that Antony posted on Facebook out of an impulse and played down rumours of a rift existing within the group.
Listin Stephen:
'Producers are moving ahead after overcoming threats from theatres owned by the Kerala government. Remuneration, including that of actors, is certainly something that can be reduced. Actors increasing their remuneration at a whim and new producers being ready to pay those high sum, poses a threat to the career of old producers in the field.
I have talked with both Suresh Kumar and Antony. There is no rift between them. However, a majority is not happy with the strike announced on June 1. For that, further discussions will be held under the auspices of all organizations. The producers' association had written to the star association AMMA citing the remuneration issue. The letter says that actors with more than Rs 5 lakh remuneration can be paid 30 per cent during the shooting. Later, it was stated that 30 per cent would be paid at the time of dubbing and the remaining 40 per cent at the time of release. All responsibility in this matter will be taken by the organization.”
At the same time, AMMA responded that a decision would be made after the general body meeting.
