US woman drowns at Azhimala beach

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A 75-year-old American woman drowned after being caught in strong waves while swimming at Azhimala Beach. A Russian national, who attempted to rescue her, sustained injuries. The deceased has been identified as Brigitte Charlotte (75). The injured man, Rodinavo Evgeny (54), suffered injuries while trying to save her.

The incident occurred yesterday afternoon when Brigitte was swimming and got caught in strong currents. Seeing her in distress, Rodinavo, who was also in the water nearby, attempted to rescue her but injured himself after hitting a rock. Lifeguards quickly intervened and rushed Brigitte to the hospital, but she was pronounced dead. Both Brigitte and Rodinavo had been staying at a private resort in Pulinkudi. Brigitte had arrived on the 4th of this month and was scheduled to return on the 25th. The Russian national is currently receiving treatment at a private hospital.
