Renu had to go through vile criticism on social media after the untimely accident death of her husband and popular mimicry artist Kollam Sudhi. Things turned such vicious that Renu even feared the idea of putting her smiling photo on social media, for fear of criticism from netizens. Now, she has decided to not anymore become subservient to the criticism from the ‘moral guardians’. Renu, who used to do reels on Instagram is now a theatre artist. In an interview allowed to a YouTube channel, she opened up about her personal life.
RENU:
“Sudhi Chettan is still in my mind. However, some people still don’t like the fact that I enjoy small happiness in my life. Some are ruthless in posting expletives on my comments. Recently, I confronted one person for his comments and soon he apologized personally and deleted it.
People still love Sudhi Chettan. It is for their love for him that they built a house for us. However, some people still criticised us and rumoured that I would push out the children from the house to take it all mine. Some even accused me of torturing Sudhi Chettan's eldest son.
Sudhi Chettan died on June 7. Our wedding anniversary was on May 7. Sudhi Chettan was upset that he could not celebrate it. We had a 15-year age difference but between us, he acted as the younger one. The program ‘Star Magic’ helped us a lot financially. I haven’t watched any episodes of Star Magic since his death. If any video of him pops up on my feed, I would swipe it off. I don’t have the power to watch it.
Even if I do a little touch-up and dress well, people will come with criticism. They want me to act as a widow. It is such a cruel fate and should not happen to anyone.
Many have asked me to consider remarriage. As of now, it is not in my plans. But if such a thing happens, I’m sure of being at the receiving end of vile criticism. I have one thing to ask people who are not slowing down on their criticism of me. Can you give me back my Sudhi Chettan?”
