NEW DELHI: Reports indicate that a decision has been made to conduct board exams twice a year for CBSE Class 10 students starting from the next academic year. This move is based on the 2020 National Education Policy, aimed at reducing exam-related anxiety and pressure among students. With this new system, students will have the opportunity to appear for board exams twice in an academic year, and the best score from these attempts will be considered for higher education.
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan had earlier clarified the plan to hold exams twice a year. He mentioned that the central government intends to make the National Testing Agency’s (NTA) exams as flawless as the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) model. He added that the recommendations put forward by a committee led by former ISRO Chairman Dr. K Radhakrishnan will be implemented to modernize the NTA.
In addition to exam reforms, CBSE plans to roll out a global curriculum for around 260 schools abroad affiliated with the board, beginning with the 2026-27 academic session. The curriculum will combine core Indian educational values with global best practices to ensure a world-class education for students. Key Indian subjects will also be included in the curriculum
