NEW DELHI: BJP has decided the Chief Minister of Delhi after two weeks of discussions. Mahila Morcha National Vice President Rekha Gupta will become the new Delhi Chief Minister. Parvesh Verma has been appointed as the Deputy Chief Minister. The official announcement will be made shortly. Rekha Gupta, who won from the Shalimar Bagh seat by 29,595 votes, is becoming the Chief Minister of Delhi after Atishi Merlena.
BJP's central observers had reached the party headquarters in the evening. The team then discussed with the MLAs and reached a consensus. Rekha Gupta's oath-taking will take place tomorrow itself. The oath-taking ceremony will be held at 11 am at the Ramlila Maidan in Delhi. Parvesh Sharma, who defeated Arvind Kejriwal, will be the Deputy Chief Minister. Vijendra Gupta will be the Speaker.
Sushma Swaraj was the Chief Minister in the first assembly elections in Delhi in 1998. BJP has won the Delhi Assembly this time, after 27 years.
