The Invest Kerala Global Summit organized by the government with the aim of boosting development was full of spirit and zeal.
First came the announcement by Adani Ports Limited Managing Director Karan Adani. An investment of Rs 30,000 crore will be made in Vizhinjam Port, Thiruvananthapuram Airport and Kochi Logistics Park.
Aster DM Healthcare will set up two new hospitals. The beds in the existing hospitals will be increased. Aster Founder Chairman Dr Azad Moopen and Director Anoop Moopen announced Rs 850 crore.
Confederation of Indian Industries Chairman Sanjeev Puri announced that a hospitality institute will be set up in Angamaly. Lulu Group Chief MA Yusuff Ali expressed interest in a food processing park in Kalamassery.
Meetings were held with entrepreneurs led by the Chief Minister and the Industries Minister. Letters of interest and memorandums of understanding will be signed tomorrow. Investment projects including foreign and domestic entrepreneurs will be announced.
Invest Kerala was inaugurated by the Chief Minister at the Lulu Bolgatty International Convention Centre. Union Ministers Nitin Gadkari, Piyush Goyal, Jayant Chaudhary, Leader of Opposition VD Satheesan, Ministers MB Rajesh, VN Vasavan, Saji Cherian, GR Anil and others spoke. Industries Minister P Rajeev presided over the function. MA Yusuf Ali, Karan Adani, Sanjeev Puri, UAE-Bahrain ministers and others also participated. Chief Secretary Sharda Muraleedharan gave the welcome speech and Industries Principal Secretary A.P.M. Mohammed Hanish proposed the vote of thanks.
50,000 crores for 31 roads
Union Minister for Surface Transport Nitin Gadkari announced 31 road development projects at a cost of 50,000 crores. The amount is for four projects, including the Ring Road in Thiruvananthapuram. Minister Nitin Gadkari also said that the third Modi government will spend three lakh crores on Kerala in five years. Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal said that full support will be given to industrial and economic initiatives.
