Film and television actress Sreekutty gave a fiery response to those who criticized her for participating in the Maha Kumbh Mela and taking a holy dip. She shared her reply in a video on social media. Sreekutty expressed her joy at being able to take part in the 45-day-long Maha Kumbh Mela along with her husband.
"It has been about two weeks since we participated in the Maha Kumbh Mela. Until now, neither of us has experienced fever, cold, itching, or any other health issues. The only ones itching are the people posting these comments, not us," Sreekutty stated.
"We took a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam. That day, we couldn’t take another bath afterward because we hadn’t booked a room. For two days after taking the dip, we didn’t even use soap to bathe. You people who are criticizing us should at least try dipping once in this so-called 'dirty' water. I heard that around 63 crore (630 million) people attended the Kumbh Mela. I don’t know about them, but my husband and I took a dip, and we have faced absolutely no problems so far. That’s the truth."
"When I returned from there, I brought some water with me. Now, it feels even purer to me. When I first collected it, it seemed a bit murky, but now it looks just like mineral water. I don’t feel the need to prove this to anyone, but I wanted to mention it here because of the kinds of comments I’ve been receiving. People are saying things like, 'You are a curse to this land,' and 'What are you people doing?' These are the kinds of hateful comments being posted," Sreekutty said.
