NEW DELHI: The Delhi Cabinet has approved the Mahila Samriddhi Yojana to provide Rs 2,500 per month to women. It was Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta who announced this decision. The decision was taken during the cabinet meeting chaired by the Chief Minister. The cabinet allocated Rs 5,100 crore in the annual budget for this initiative.

"On International Women's Day, the Cabinet meeting gave approval for the Mahila Samridhi Yojana, under which women will receive Rs 2,500 per month. We are happy to fulfill the promise made to women during the elections," the CM said.

The benefits of this scheme will be available to women aged 18 to 60 years who have an annual income below Rs 3 lakh and reside in Delhi. A website will soon be launched for eligible applicants to apply for the Mahila Samriddhi Yojana. However, government employees will not be eligible for this benefit. Ministers Ashish Sood, Virendra Sachdeva, and Kapil Sharma are also members of the committee overseeing the scheme.
