THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Actor Jayaram will lead the grand percussion performance at the Attukal Bhagavathy Temple premises today. He will perform as the chief performer (Mela Pramani) among a hundred artists playing instruments like the chenda, kombu, kuzhal, and chengila.

Jayaram expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to present Panchari Melam at the Attukal temple courtyard, calling it a great blessing. "I have been coming here for many years. I have witnessed the Pongala festival and have been amazed by the devotion and dedication of the women. Now, I am about to perform the Panchari Melam before the Goddess," Jayaram told Kerala Kaumudi.

"The Attukal Pongala is world-famous. The discipline and devotion with which the women celebrate this festival are beyond words. Just as people say that Thrissur Pooram must be seen and experienced, the same is true for Attukal Pongala as well. This grand event is a unifying experience where our government, the people, every household in Thiruvananthapuram, and numerous volunteers come together with one heart and mind. The presentation of Panchari Melam at Attukal is different from other temples," Jayaram said.
