KOCHI: The dispute over the funeral rites of the late senior CPM leader MM Lawrence has once again reached the court. His daughters will file a review petition in court, demanding that Lawrence's body be cremated as per religious customs. They have also released a voice message attributed to MM Lawrence.

The voice message, said to be that of Lawrence, states, "I want to go to heaven and see Jesus. I should be buried at the place where Suja says. There should not be any change in this."

Although Lawrence's daughters had earlier filed a petition in the High Court requesting that the body be buried according to religious customs, it was rejected. Following this, the daughters are once again approaching the court. MM Lawrence passed away on September 21.

The daughters have questioned the decision of their brother, ML Sajeevan, to donate the body for medical studies. Sajeevan claimed that their father had expressed the desire to donate his body for studies before his death. Sajeevan had also presented witnesses to support this. Although the court had appointed a senior advocate as a mediator to resolve the issue amicably, the discussions ended up as a failure.
