THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The order to affix a sticker saying 'Free ride if meter is not running' on autos that do not operate the meter will be withdrawn. The decision was taken in a discussion held by the Transport Minister with the auto workers. The strike planned by the Kerala Workers Union in this regard will also be withdrawn.
The order to affix the sticker was issued from March 1st. However, most autos did not have the sticker. There was protest among the auto workers against the order. The strike was planned with regards to this issue. The order was that if the fare meter is not running or is not in a working condition, a sticker printed in Malayalam and English with the words 'Free ride if meter is not running' should be affixed behind the driver's seat, facing the passengers. The decision to affix the sticker was taken at a meeting of the State Transport Authority.
