THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Rains are coming to the state again to relieve the scorching heat. According to the latest warning from the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of heavy rain in Kerala today. It has been announced that there is a possibility of isolated rain with thundershowers in Pathanamthitta, Kottayam and Idukki districts in the coming hours and rain in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha and Ernakulam districts.
In addition, a yellow alert has been issued in four districts today. The yellow alert is in Pathanamthitta, Idukki, Malappuram and Wayanad districts. Isolated heavy rain is predicted in these places. The forecast is for 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm of rain in 24 hours.
Along with this, a Kallakadal (swell surge waves) alert has also been issued. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has said that there is a possibility of sea inundation due to high waves of 1.2 to 1.3 meters along the Kanyakumari coast till 05.30 pm today as part of the Kallakadal phenomenon. IMD has said that there is a possibility of light/moderate rain with thundershowers and strong winds gusting up to 40 kmph at isolated places in Pathanamthitta, Kottayam and Idukki districts of Kerala in the next 3 hours, and light rain at isolated places in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha and Ernakulam districts.
