NEW DELHI: John Brittas MP has lashed out at Union Minister Suresh Gopi, questioning why he is in Thiruvananthapuram during the ongoing Parliament session. Brittas was referring to an incident where Suresh Gopi was seen meeting the ASHA workers protesting in Thiruvananthapuram the previous night. Brittas also mentioned that the minister’s actions indicate he has no significant responsibilities in Delhi.
Brittas also remarked that even BJP supporters would doubt the relevance of Suresh Gopi’s statements. However, Suresh Gopi, during his visit to the ASHA workers' protest camp on Wednesday, told the workers that his involvement had led to a shift in the Centre’s approach towards the issue. The protesters are planning a protest Pongala tomorrow.
On Wednesday morning, while heading to the Attukal Temple with his wife Radha, Suresh Gopi visited the protest camp and clarified that his involvement in the issue was not due to his position as a BJP member, minister, or MP, but rather because he is a social activist.
"Take lessons from Sikkim and Andhra Pradesh. Good things should happen. I won’t blame the state government on this matter. It will take time. There’s no tree that provides instant money, and it can’t be given right away after being promised. I won’t blame anyone. I brought the issue to the Centre without any political bias. Its slight outcome is already starting to show," said Suresh Gopi.
