KOCHI: The victims' parents have filed a petition in the High Court against the CBI's action in making them accused in the Walayar case. In the petition, the parents have demanded that the CBI cancel the charge sheet. The petition also states that further investigation in the case is required. The court accepted the petition and adjourned the case to April 1 for the CBI's reply.

The main argument in the petition is that the children's case was not suicide but murder and that the CBI did not take the evidence to substantiate this at face value. The CBI had made the parents accused for concealing the fact that the minor girls had been sexually abused despite knowing it. The CBI had found that the mental stress following the sexual abuse was the reason for the suicide of the Walayar girls.
