'Mohanlal should correct statement he made during interview; actor made statement due to misunderstanding'

PATHANAMTHITTA: The Travancore Devaswom Board has dismissed actor Mohanlal’s allegation regarding the leaking of the receipt for the offering (vazhipadu) he made during his recent visit to Sabarimala, stating that the claim stemmed from a misunderstanding and was unfortunate. In a recent interview, Mohanlal had alleged that Devaswom officials were responsible for making the details of his offering public. Clarifying the matter, the Board stated that no official was involved in leaking the receipt details.

According to the Board, only the counterfoil of the offering receipt is retained by the Devaswom, while the main receipt is handed over to the person performing the ritual. In this instance, the receipt was received by the individual authorized by Mohanlal to carry out the offering.

The Board further emphasized that there was no lapse or misconduct on the part of any Devaswom official in the matter.
