'Will hack you inside office'; Naranganam Village Officer gets death threat from CPM leader

PATHANAMTHITTA: CPM Area Secretary MV Sanju threatened to beat up Naranganam Village Officer George Joseph for demanding payment of building tax. The phone conversation between the two got leaked and went viral across social media pages on Wednesday.

Village officer on the phone to Sanju:

“We have been requesting you to pay the building tax since 2022. You people might be having great connections with those in power, but it is we who will have to grovel before the Deputy Collector and the Collector. The amount should be paid before tomorrow afternoon.”

Sanju then adopted a haughty tone and asked where the village officer hailed from. The question was a sly hint to make the officer aware that the CPM leader would be the one calling the shots.

The village officer said he would proceed with action if the amount remains unpaid. Sanju then hurled obscenities at the officer and threatened to hack him inside the office.

The village officer reported the incident to the deputy tahsildar. No complaint was filed with the police. Sanju responded to the incident saying that the village officer’s deplorable statements triggered him to make below-the-belt statements.
