THRISSUR: A case has been registered against Jasna Salim for filming a video at Guruvayur Temple, violating a High Court order. The FIR states that she recorded herself offering garlands to the Krishna idol near the eastern entrance. The Devaswom Board filed a complaint after the video circulated on social media, leading to police action.
Despite the controversy, Jasna recently posed for another photo with the Krishna idol set up for Vishu Kani. In the photo, she is seen kissing the idol. This act has drawn widespread criticism online. Comments under the video include statements like, "Faith is not for display," and "Never gave kisses to any Gods… love, fondness, bhakti should be expressed in prostrating before God."
Jasna had earlier faced backlash for cutting a birthday cake at the Guruvayur Nadapanthal. The incident led some to approach the High Court, which banned videography in temple premises except for religious ceremonies and weddings. The court also restricted vloggers from filming within the temple.
Jasna is known for her paintings of Lord Krishna and gained fame after gifting one of her artworks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to Guruvayur. She creates her paintings using fabric paint on acrylic sheets.
