KOZHIKODE: A disturbing case of alleged police apathy has emerged from Kakkur, Kozhikode, where a mother claims that local law enforcement failed to act despite multiple complaints against her drug-addicted son. According to the woman, she visited the Kakkur police station three times in a single day, seeking urgent intervention, but no action was taken.

The mother said her main request was to admit her son to a de-addiction centre. If not, she fears he might become the next Afaan. She revealed that her son, a repeat user of various narcotics, had shown signs of recovery after receiving treatment from a rehabilitation centre. However, he recently relapsed and resumed drug use.

Just the other day, in a violent outburst, he smashed windows and caused damage at home. A local resident informed the police, but despite their arrival, no action followed. The mother stated that she went to the police station three times yesterday.

Apart from her son, his wife, their child, and the husband’s mother also live in the house. Due to the ongoing issues, the mother said she had to send her daughter-in-law and grandchild to their parental home for safety.
