KOZHIKODE: A CITU leader has been expelled from the organisation for allegedly pointing a finger while speaking to the district secretary during a discussion. The action was taken against K. Manoj, Vice President of the CITU Headload Workers' Union in the Vadakara area. Manoj, who is also a CPM branch secretary, claimed he was expelled on the grounds that his body language was inappropriate. He is an employee at the public sector enterprise NMDC in Vadakara.

“A meeting was held on April 20 at Alanchery as part of the upcoming conference. During the discussions, I raised some issues with CITU District Secretary Nassar. I did speak a bit loudly — I admit that. But I never used a single abusive word. All I did was highlight some concerns,” Manoj said.

“Later in another meeting, area union president K.K. Rameshan falsely claimed that I had assaulted Nassar. He said I spoke in a disrespectful manner while pointing my finger, and that’s why I was expelled. I did not say or do anything against the party. I’ve decided to file a complaint with the CPM,” Manoj added.
