NEW DELHI: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has expressed her condolences over the death of four people in a building collapse in Delhi's Mustafabad. The Chief Minister said that she is paying tribute to those who died in the accident and that an investigation has been ordered into the collapse of the building. The Chief Minister said that the DDMA, NDRF and DFS teams are continuing the rescue operation.
Mustafabad MLA and Delhi Assembly Deputy Speaker Mohan Singh Bisht expressed concern over the safety of the remaining buildings in the area. He also said that financial assistance would be provided to the families of those who died in the accident.
Former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal also expressed his condolences over the accident. "It is a great tragedy. I express my condolences to the families of those who died in the accident. I appeal to the party workers to participate in the rescue operation," Arvind Kejriwal said.
The accident took place in Mustafabad at around 2.39 am today. A four-storey building collapsed. CCTV footage of the accident has been released. The footage shows a sudden burst of flames and heavy smoke rising from the building. The building collapsed hours after heavy rain and wind. Authorities said they could not confirm the cause of the accident. The NDRF said that more people may be trapped in the rubble of the building and their chances of survival are slim.
