THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: After reorganising the 14 revenue districts of the state into 30 organisational districts, the BJP has completed the first round of reorganisation efforts in all districts. State President Rajeev Chandrasekhar oversaw the selection of district office-bearers in a manner that avoided any controversies.
Among the approximately 600 district office-bearers appointed, around 200 are women. Additionally, 225 members are from backward communities, 75 are from Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, and 30 are Christian leaders.
With this, the preparations for the upcoming local body elections scheduled for the end of this year have officially begun. However, the selection of state-level office-bearers is expected to be delayed. Although it was announced that the state office-bearers would be finalised by April 15, that process has not yet been completed.
More than 600 functionaries have been appointed across the 30 organisational districts. Following the selection of 30 district presidents, a week-long round of discussions, interviews, and consultations—spanning over 2,000 leaders, including phone conversations and direct meetings—was conducted to choose the remaining office-bearers. With this, the selection of office-bearers from booth level up to district level has been completed. The new collective of district office-bearers has been named "Team Vikasitha Kerala" (Team Developed Kerala) by the state president.
