The fourth-anniversary celebration of the second Pinarayi Vijayan government has begun in Kasaragod. The second Left Front government is fully deserving of the title of a government that works even in a situation that is somewhat clouded by controversies and allegations. This government does not have the nature of staying away from project implementation due to fear of protests and allegations. The government's ability to launch the Wayanad Township project despite financial difficulties is commendable. Natural disasters can occur during the tenure of any government, but how it is dealt with should be taken as the yardstick to assess the effectiveness of a government. Looking at it in that way, no one can say that this government is not performing successfully.

The Vizhinjam port, which can be described as Kerala's biggest pride project, will be commissioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 2. It is also worth mentioning that the inauguration of Vizhinjam will take place during the fourth-anniversary celebrations that will last until May 30. Similarly, the construction of the national highway will also be completed before the end of this government's term. The term of this government will end when these activities that will change the face of the state also end.

The fact that the last four years have seen a leap in the industry sector despite the limitations is also a noteworthy achievement. The number of startups has increased and an industry-friendly environment has been created. Although there is still a long way to go in terms of waste management, the efforts being made by local self-government bodies are promising.

Kerala has become the first state to make comprehensive land information available in a digital system. The distribution of 3,57,898 Patta deeds and the provision of forest rights to tribals are some of the achievements. Even though the government says that 66 percent of the total PSC appointments in the country are made in Kerala, it cannot be denied that this government has also had a period in which backdoor appointments were made regularly. Therefore, the government should pay maximum attention in the fifth year to ensure that vacancies are reported in a manner that is adequate to provide maximum jobs to those in the PSC rank lists. When this government came to power, 18 months of welfare pension was in arrears. The fact that Rs. 1600 each is now being given to 60 lakh people is also exemplary.

The government has not yet been able to successfully coordinate the activities that effectively prevent wildlife attacks faced by those living near the forest edge in the hilly areas. The expansion of government-related e-services is also counted among the achievements of the government.

The rapid revival of the tourism sector after the Covid slowdown gives great hope. This government is a continuation of the Left Democratic Front government that came to power in 2016. Pinarayi has completed nine years as Chief Minister. There are even discussions going on about the possibilities of continued rule. Kerala Kaumudi wishes that this government will achieve its goal of elevating Kerala to a level comparable to developed countries by ensuring economic progress and social justice.
