THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Minister for General Education V. Sivankutty stated that the historical distortions seen in NCERT textbooks will be pointed out at the General Council meeting scheduled to be held in New Delhi on May 2. He said he would attend the meeting in person and present the matter.
"Erasing historical events from textbooks cannot be justified. Denying children the opportunity to learn true history is not in line with academic integrity. Saffronization of the education sector will lead to academic setbacks," the minister said.
"The blocking of educational funds meant for SSK by the central government also cannot be justified. These funds are intended for the most marginalised children in society. The Right to Education Act clearly outlines the provision of central funds for educational needs. The Centre’s actions amount to a blatant violation of the Right to Education Act," he said.
