Protests over Hedgewar controversy; unruly scenes witnessed during meet in Palakkad municipality, woman councilor faints

PALAKKAD: Some unruly scenes were witnessed in Palakkad Municipality following Hedgewar controversy. A protest staged by the UDF and LDF ended in the uproar. There was a clash between women councilors at the municipal council meet convened.

Protests were staged in front of the chamber of municipal chairperson Prameela Sashidharan. Meanwhile, BJP councilors and workers entered the chamber to protect her. The UDF is asking why non-councilors entered the chairperson's chamber. This also led to the clash. One of the women councilors fainted amidst the clash.

The protest was triggered in naming the newly constructed skill center for the differently-abled in the Palakkad municipality after RSS leader Hedgewar. The opposition protested by raising placards that read 'Who is this Hedgewar'.
