CHANDIGARH: The Punjab police recovered a cache of arms and explosives during a search in Punjab. The police seized a terrorist hardware, two rocket propelled grenades (RPGs), two improvised explosive devices (IEDs) five P 85 hand grenades and one wireless communication set was seized. The security forces and the police have intensified search soon after the Pahalgam terror attack.
The Punjab Police’ State Special Operation Cell (SSOC) conducted the search operation in collaboration with central agencies based on an intelligence report. Two rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs), an improvised explosive device (IED), five P-86 hand grenades and a wireless communication set were seized, the Punjab Police DGP tweeted.
Security forces had busted a terrorist hideout in Poonch, Jammu and Kashmir yesterday. The hideout was found during a joint search operation by the Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police in the forest area of Surankot in Poonch. Explosives were also found.
Three of the explosives were hidden in tiffin boxes and two in steel buckets. Apart from this, two radio sets, binoculars and clothes were also found.
The terrorist attack was on April 22 in Baisaran, a popular tourist destination near Pahalgam in Anantnag. Twenty-six people, including Malayalees, were killed. Most of them were tourists from other states.
