KOCHI: A neighbour makes crucial revelations in the incident where a three-year-old girl was thrown into the Chalakudy River by her mother. The dead is Kalyani, daughter of Subhash of Varikoli Mattakuzhy Keezhpilly House in Kolenchery. Ashokan, neighbour and relative revealed that the girl’s mother Sandhya had made murder attempts earlier also.

'Sandhya is not someone who talks much. She has hit her children on the head with a torch. She had tried to kill her by lacing poison in ice cream before and that was foiled by her eldest child that day. Seeing this Subhash's mother got scared and dropped Sandhya and her children to her own house. She also filed a complaint with the police that day. She was sent her for counseling. Sandhya did not seem to have any mental issues. There are doubts about the behavior of Sandhya's mother and sister,' said Ashokan.

Her husband Subhash said Sandhya does not have any mental issues but has tortured her children in the past. 'I suspect the role of Sandhya's mother and sister in the incident. Sandhya obeys only what they say. She has abused the child before. After hitting the child on the head with a torch, Sandhya was dropped at her own house. The issues were resolved and she returned a month ago,' said Subhash.

Police informed that Sandhya has confessed to the crime. When asked why she killed her, Sandhya replied without any emotion, 'I killed her.' Police said that a mental health expert will examine her mental condition.
