KOCHI: A cargo containing hazardous materials has fallen into the Arabian Sea from a ship near the Kerala coast. The State Disaster Management Authority has issued a warning to the public stating that the materials are extremely dangerous and should not be touched if the cargo washes ashore. People are advised not to go near the cargo.

It is reported that the cargo contains marine gas oil, which is highly flammable. The warning from the Disaster Management Authority follows information provided by the Coast Guard. People are instructed to inform the police or call 112 if any containers are spotted on the shore. Authorities have emphasised the need for strict caution along the coast. According to State Disaster Management Member Secretary Shekhar Kuriakose, around six to eight containers are believed to have fallen into the sea.
