THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Indian meteorological department warned of a possibility of very heavy rain in the state for the next two days. The monsoon which came earlier this year is already wreaking havoc across the state.
According to the Indian Meteorological Department, the highest rainfall was recorded in Kannur district from March 1 to May 27. Given the continuous heavy rains, a holiday was declared for educational institutions in Kannur, Kasaragod, Idukki and Ernakulam districts on Thursday. There is no change in the exams scheduled in these districts.
The District Collector announced that educational institutions, Anganwadis, Madrasas, Tuition Centers and Special Classes in the district will remain closed tomorrow (29/05/2025, Thursday) due to the red alert declared in Kannur district.
IMD declared a red alert in Kasaragod district on May 29 and 30. As a precautionary measure, District Collector K. Inbasekhar IAS declared a holiday for educational institutions, including professional colleges, tuition centres, special classes, Anganwadis, and Madrasas in the district tomorrow (May 29).
