NEW DELHI: Shashi Tharoor, who is leading an all-party group explaining Operation Sindoor, has angered the Congress by continuing to make statements in favour of Prime Minister Narendra Modi abroad. The basis of the new controversy is Shashi Tharoor's statement that terrorist camps in Pakistan were attacked for the first time by crossing the Line of Control and the International Border during Narendra Modi's tenure.
Congress leader Udit Raj mocked Shashi Tharoor by saying that he would be made the External Affairs Minister or a super BJP spokesperson before returning to India. Udit Raj also pointed out that Tharoor has insulted the golden history of the Congress. India invaded Pakistan several times in 1965. It tore Pakistan into two in 1971. Udit Raj said that surgical strikes were carried out several times during the UPA period, but they were not used for political gains. Senior leaders Jairam Ramesh and Pawan Khera shared Udit Raj's X-post.
Following Tharoor's statement, Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera posted a video on X in which former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh says that several surgical strikes were carried out during the UPA era. He tagged Tharoor in the post with “CC @ShashiTharoor” and expressed his dissatisfaction. Pawan Khera also shared pictures of Indian soldiers standing in front of a police station in Pakistan in 1965.
