NEW DELHI: Addressing a public rally in Alipurduar in West Bengal, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that Pakistan fears a direct war, which is why it continues to support terrorism. He alleged that Pakistan has long harboured and promoted terrorism, dating back to 1947, and claimed the country had developed expertise in orchestrating terror and mass violence. Referring to the atrocities committed in present-day Bangladesh during its liberation, Modi remarked that the horrors inflicted by Pakistan remain indelible.
Highlighting India’s robust countermeasures, the Prime Minister said the country had responded decisively to Pakistani aggression on three major occasions. These included the 2016 surgical strikes following the Uri attack, the 2019 Balakot airstrikes after Pulwama, and 'Operation Sindoor'. Modi noted that India targeted and dismantled terror infrastructure across the border in ways Pakistan did not anticipate.
