MALAPPURAM: The assets of Trinamool Congress candidate and former MLA PV Anvar in the Nilambur by-election have been revealed. Anvar has disclosed his assets in the affidavit filed along with his nomination papers. The total value of Anvar's movable and immovable assets is Rs 34.07 crore. Anvar also has liabilities of Rs 20.60 crore.
Anvar has stated in his affidavit that he has Rs 25,000 in his possession. His two wives also have Rs 10,000 each. Each of his wives owns 150 sovereigns of jewellery worth Rs 1.06 crore. Anvar has movable assets of Rs 18.14 crore. The affidavit also states that he has liabilities of Rs 20 crore including bank loans and others. Anvar's movable assets were Rs 18.57 crore when he contested in 2021. The liability was Rs 16.94 crore.
The by-election in Nilambur is being held in the vacancy left by the resignation of sitting MLA Anvar. Anvar, who took a tough stand against Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and distanced himself from the LDF and CPM, tried to join the UDF but was unsuccessful. Moreover, Anvar also distanced himself from the UDF after he made harsh criticisms against Opposition Leader VD Satheesan. It is believed that Anvar aims to contest as a Trinamool Congress candidate and prove his strength by securing not less than ten thousand votes and making it easier for him to join the UDF before the next assembly elections.
