1435 Covid patients in Kerala, eight deaths this year; Health Minister Veena George explains reason for increase in Covid figures in Kerala

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The number of people undergoing treatment for Covid in Kerala has increased to 1435. The cause of death of a 24-year-old woman who was undergoing treatment has been confirmed to be Covid. She was undergoing treatment for liver disease. With this, the number of Covid deaths in Kerala this year has reached eight.

Kerala is reporting more than 150 new cases every day. Minister Veena George said that the increase in Covid cases in Kerala is due to accurate testing. "Don't worry, we are monitoring this very closely. Although it has been proven that the Covid variant that is spreading now is not very severe, the potential for spread is high. Those with diseases should take precautions including wearing masks. Health workers should strictly follow the infection control protocol," added Veena George.
