THRISSUR: Police have intensified the investigation into the Padiyur twin murder case that shocked Kerala. Mani (74) and her daughter Rekha (43), natives of Padiyur, were killed in the incident. The police are continuing their search for Rekha's husband Premkumar. A lookout notice has also been issued against him.
Police believe that an unsolved family dispute led Premkumar to kill the duo either through strangling or by suffocation. According to reports, Premkumar is accused of murdering his first wife Vidya and burying her body inside the forest.
On Wednesday, neighbours informed Mani’s other daughter about a foul smell emanating from the house in Padiyur. When they barged inside the house, the neighbours and the relatives found the mother and daughter duo lying dead.
The bodies were several days old while the utensils in the house were found unkempt. According to Rekha’s sister, a complaint was filed against Premkumar with the Irinjalakuda women's station a few days ago.
Photos of Rekha with her male friends were found pasted in the clothes at the site of the murder. A note, purportedly written by Premkumar, admonishing his wife’s behaviour was also recovered from the house. The locals also admitted to seeing Premkumar inside the house on the day of the murder.
