KOZHIKODE: The five students accused in the lynching of Shahabas, a class 10 student in Thamarassery, have all secured admission to Plus One. Three of them secured admission to Thamarassery Government Vocational Higher Secondary School, one to St. Joseph Higher Secondary School, and another to Government Vocational Higher Secondary School, Kuttichira. Two students got temporary admission and one got permanent admission in Thamarassery.
The school authorities had given the accused students an unsatisfactory character certificate report, but the school received a directive from the Education Department that admission could not be denied on this basis. The students were admitted following this. The vehicle that arrived with the children under police escort to gain admission was stopped by KSU and MSF activists. They were arrested and removed by the police. After admission, the children were taken back to the Vellimadukunnu Juvenile Home.
The High Court had directed that the five accused be allowed to appear for admission either in person or online. For this, the accused were granted relaxation in their detention from 10 am to 5 pm today. The court had directed the Thamarassery SHO and the Observation Home Superintendent to provide adequate security to take them directly to the school. Meanwhile, Shahabaz's father said that the decision to grant admission to the accused students in the case is unacceptable and that it sends the wrong message.
