'Daddy responded on the way to hospital, and in a moment all our hopes were lost': Shine Tom Chacko's driver recalls accident that killed actor's father, CP Chacko

BENGALURU: Driver Aneesh claimed that Shine Tom Chacko's father had died before he had reached the hospital in the car accident. 'The lorry lost control because it changed the track suddenly. We took his father to the hospital in a Malayali's car that was passing by,' the driver told a media outlet.

'Daddy left us before we reached the hospital. Daddy was behind the driver's seat. Shine Chettan was sitting at the very back. While going to the hospital, there were few responses when I called Daddy. By the time we reached the hospital, he became silent. With that, all our hopes were lost,' said the driver.

The group left Ernakulam for Bengaluru at around 10 pm last night. The accident occurred in Salem at around 6 am. Shine's right hand has been injured. Shine's mother, brother and assistant have minor injuries. They have been admitted to a hospital in Dharmapuri. It is reported that Shine is undergoing surgery on his hand.

The accident occurred during Shine's journey for further treatment. Shine had earlier participated in some shootings after undergoing treatment at a drug rehabilitation centre in Thodupuzha. It was after this that he went to Bengaluru for treatment.

Shine is undergoing treatment at Dharmapuri Government Medical College. The body of his father Chacko is also kept at the same hospital. It is reported that the body will be handed over to the relatives by the evening after the postmortem. Reports say that Shine and others will return to their hometown along with the body and will undergo further treatment in Kochi.
