PALA: CPM State Secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan said the ‘politricks’ played in name of Sabarimala during the Lok Saba election would not work during the Pala by-election. “Sabarimala will not be a topic of discussion during the by-election,” he said.

“The opponents of the LDF campaigned for votes during the Lok Sabha election, saying that they will cancel the Supreme Court order on Sabarimala, once they come to power. But, after coming to power, they have been saying that it is impossible to change the order.

Thus during the Pala by-election, Sabarimala issue will not come up for discussion. Will a party be able to change the Supreme Court order if they win the by-election?” he quipped.

Kodiyeri has said he hoped that the NSS will maintain equidistance from all parties. “We have no grudge against any organisation. We welcome the stand taken by the SNDP in the by-election. Every organisation has its own stand,” he added.
