NEW DELHI: DGCA has issued strict instructions to Air India in the wake of the Ahmedabad plane crash that killed 294 people. The main directive is that six types of inspections should be carried out before each flight. The important instructions are that flight control inspections should be conducted until further notice, power assurance tests should be conducted, and the report should be handed over to DGCA.
DGCA has also directed the company to intensify safety inspections of Boeing's Dreamliner 787-8 and 787-9 series aircraft in the wake of the Ahmedabad accident. The directive includes inspecting the fuel, engine, and hydraulic systems. The DGCA has directed the company to submit a report after inspecting these.
The DGCA has asked for an immediate review of the Boeing Dreamliners that have been repeatedly damaged in the last two weeks and for necessary repairs to be made. Reports are also emerging that Air India has already initiated safety inspections in the wake of the DGCA's intervention.
Air India's AI171 Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner flight, which took off from Ahmedabad to London, had crashed into the BJ Medical College hostel near Ahmedabad airport.
