AHMEDABAD: The country is still reeling from the shock of the massive plane crash in Ahmedabad that claimed the lives of 294 people. Many broke down and they are trying to digest the loss. Meanwhile, a video of a woman offering to pay Rs 2 crore to TATA Group if her father, who died in the plane crash, is given back, is being widely circulated. DNA tests are being conducted to identify the bodies of those dead in the plane crash. The words of Falguni, waiting to give her blood samples for DNA matching, are heart wrenching.
The Air India Boeing 787 Dreamliner, owned by TATA, crashed within seconds of taking off. The Tata Group had announced a compensation of Rs 1 crore each for the victims of the tragedy. 'Can the compensation ever bring back my father? My mother is sick, she needs her husband. I need his love and care. If they can bring back my father, I will pay them Rs 2 crore. He always preferred travelling on Air India,’ Falguni said.
Authorities said that samples of 219 people have been tested so far. 26 bodies identified including those of six passengers, have been handed over to their relatives. The process of comparing DNA samples will take about 72 hours to complete. The search for bodies among the debris is ongoing.
