DEHRADUN: In a tragic incident, five people were killed after a helicopter crashed in a forested area in Uttarakhand. The helicopter, operated by Aryan Aviation, was carrying pilgrims from Guptkashi to Kedarnath Dham when it met with the accident. The crash occurred between Gaurikund and Sonprayag.
Uttarakhand ADGP Dr V Murugesan said that there were six people on board the helicopter. Preliminary reports suggest that technical issues and weather conditions led to the crash. Locals, who had gone to collect fodder for their cattle, were the first to spot the wreckage and then informed the authorities. Rescue operations were immediately launched at the crash site.
This is the fifth such accident since the Kedarnath pilgrimage began on May 2. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed his condolences over the incident. He also said that SDRF, local government bodies, and other rescue personnel are actively involved in the rescue operations.
