DUBAI: Dubai has declared an official holiday for government employees as part of the start of the Hijri New Year. The holiday is on June 27, Friday. Government employees will get three days off when weekend holidays are included.
The official working day will then resume on Monday, June 30. The holiday will apply to government institutions, government departments, and public institutions. However, it has been suggested that institutions providing emergency services and institutions where employees work in shifts should adjust their working hours so that these services are not disrupted.
In conjunction with the start of the Hijri New Year in the UAE, a paid holiday was announced for private sector employees on June 27. The holidays for employees in the public and private sectors in the country were previously unified.
