THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The CPM state secretariat has assessed that Left Front candidate M. Swaraj will win the by-election in Nilambur. Swaraj contesting under the party symbol helped consolidate the Left votes. The achievements of the government in development became a topic of discussion among the public. The support declared by Jamaat-e-Islami for the UDF turned out to be advantageous for the Left. The state secretariat stated that secular-minded organisations stood with the Left Front.
CPM state secretary M.V. Govindan said that Swaraj will achieve a major victory in the Nilambur constituency with a large majority. "We were able to expose the false propaganda and fabricated stories of the UDF. Their attempts to create controversies and mislead the people were rejected by the public. The LDF succeeded in highlighting secular values and exposing communal alliances. The Left candidate received widespread acceptance. The election result will further expose the internal conflicts within the Congress. After Nilambur, the UDF will face major internal turmoil," Govindan said.
Meanwhile, the UDF, NDA, and independent candidate P.V. Anvar are also hopeful of a win. Yesterday saw the highest polling percentage in the history of the constituency. All alliances interpret this as favourable to them. The UDF camp estimates a majority between 5,000 and 10,000 votes. Anvar claims he will win with a majority of 30,000 votes.
