MUMBAI: The Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has directed Air India to take action against three senior officials in the wake of the Ahmedabad plane crash. The order has been issued to remove them from service as soon as possible. The recommendation for action is against those including the Divisional Vice President.
The order has also directed to expedite internal proceedings against them in the wake of the accident. Air India has clarified that changes will be made immediately based on the order and the company's Chief Operating Officer will directly handle the matters during this period.
Several serious issues related to employee rest and licensing had arisen in Air India. However, strict disciplinary action was not taken against the officials in connection with such issues. This is a matter of grave concern. The DGCA has informed Air India that strict action will be taken against such lapses in the future.
