THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has announced that the intensity of rainfall in the state is likely to decrease starting on Monday. However, rainfall may intensify again from Thursday onwards. The weather department has issued an alert indicating the possibility of heavy rain in the hilly regions of Central and Northern Kerala. A yellow alert has been issued for the districts of Kasaragod, Kannur, Wayanad, Kozhikode, Malappuram, and Idukki.
The forecast mentions the likelihood of isolated heavy rainfall. Heavy rain refers to a situation where rainfall ranges between 64.5 millimetres and 115.5 millimetres within a 24-hour period.
Meanwhile, a holiday has been declared for educational institutions that are currently functioning as relief camps in the Kottayam district. The District Collector of Kottayam, John V. Samuel, informed that the holiday on Monday (June 30, 2025) is applicable only to those institutions used as relief camps.
