WASHINGTON: The death toll from the flash floods that devastated Texas in the US reached 104. 28 of the victims are children. 10 children and a counsellor who went missing from a summer camp along the Guadalupe River in Kerr County have not been found yet. The search is presently ongoing for 41 people. It is reported that President Donald Trump may visit the flood-affected area.
Flash floods hit central Texas early Friday morning followed by incessant rains. The weather service again warned of heavy rain and flooding in the area. The search is mainly being carried out using military drones and aircraft. More than 850 people have been rescued so far.
The Guadalupe River unexpectedly started overflowing during the inclement weather, worsening the tragedy. Flash floods swept away many homes, trees and vehicles. The weather is predicted to remain the same or get worse in the coming days.
