Red alert issued after weather worsens in UAE; warning to expatriates

ABU DHABI: The Meteorological Department warned of a major shift in weather in the UAE today. The temperature will rise significantly. Dark clouds will be widely visible. The Meteorological Department also announced that the clouds will move in an easterly direction.

The weather will likely be humid in some coastal areas tonight and tomorrow morning. Red and yellow alerts have been issued in many parts of the UAE capital, Abu Dhabi, due to fog. The weather department also said that there will be light winds from the southeast to the northeast. The wind will blow at a speed of 10 kilometres per hour to 20 kilometres per hour. The weather department also pointed out that it may increase to a speed of 30 kilometres per hour.

The weather will be mild in the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman, while it will be hot across the country. Abu Dhabi will see a maximum temperature of 42 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 31 degrees Celsius. Dubai will see a maximum temperature of 44 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 33 degrees Celsius, while neighbouring Sharjah will also see a similar temperature of 44 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 33 degrees Celsius, the meteorological department said.
