KOCHI: Renowned paediatrician and founder and director of Ernakulam Lakshmi Hospital, Dr. K.K. Raghav Wariyar (88), passed away on Sunday. He was a native of Kolenchery.
The body was kept for public viewing at the hospital hall and was brought to his residence ‘Kathiri’ in Ravipuram by nightfall. It will be taken to his ancestral home, Kolenchery Karukappally "Warriyath", at 10 am on Monday. The funeral will be held at 3 pm in the house compound.
K.K. Raghav Wariyar completed his MBBS at Kasturba Medical College, Manipal. He trained in paediatrics at the Royal College of England. Wariyar started Lakshmi Hospital on South Diwan's Road, Ernakulam, with his wife and gynaecologist, the late Dr. Shantha Wariyar, in 1979.
Lakshmi Hospital's Administrative Director, T.R. Pradeep Warrier, and Medical Director and Paediatrician, Dr. T.R. Pramod Warrier, are his children. Daughter-in-law: M.S. Rathi.
